Yemen mountain village

Our Story

About Mokka Roots

Rooted in Ancient Yemen. Woven Across Lands and Flavors.

Mokka Roots is a Middle Eastern bakery and cafe born from the ancient mountains of Yemen — a land whose rich, aromatic spices and deep culinary traditions have stood apart for centuries.

Yemeni cuisine is a world unto itself. From the fragrant depths of Haneed (slow-roasted lamb with saffron and spices), to the layered rice and tender meat of Mandi, to the vibrant, spiced Zurbiyan — Yemen's table overflows with complexity, warmth, and bold flavor. It is from this spice-rich heritage that our chai draws its soul: Chai Adeni with milk, and red teas fragrant with mint, rose water, and precious saffron.

From Persia, we honor the gifts of saffron and rose water — delicate, ancient treasures that travel gracefully across our teas and sweets.

From the Levant — Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan — we bring the vibrant breakfast tables, generous mezza spreads, and time-honored baking traditions. At the heart of our bakery is Manakeesh: warm, freshly baked flatbreads topped with zaatar, melting cheese, meat, spinach, or eggs.

These lands — Yemen, Persia, and the Levant — each hold their own culinary soul. Yet together, they share a common thread: a deep love for gathering around food and drink, for savoring slow mornings, and for welcoming strangers like family.

"At Mokka Roots, we don't blend these traditions into one — we celebrate each for what it is: ancient, flavorful, and unforgettable."

Whether you're stopping in for a saffron chai, picking up manakeesh for brunch, or simply curious about the rich spices of Yemen, we invite you to taste the mountains, the trade routes, and the warmth of Middle Eastern hospitality — all from our corner to yours.
